What did RBI say?
In response to all queries, the RBI Governor said,
At present there is no possibility of introducing new notes of 1000 rupees. It’s just a rumour. He said that there are enough notes of other denominations in the market. At the same time, the Rs 2000 note will also remain legal tender for the time being. An opportunity to change the notes is also being given till September 30. Banks will not be crowded in such a situation. People have 4 months to change notes (1000 Rupees New Update).
Incidentally, since there is no demand for notes larger than Rs 500 below Rs 2000 in the market at the moment. So RBI is not planning to introduce Rs 1000 notes.
