This interview is from the TV show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. In the year 2011, Lalu was asked many questions by senior journalist Rajat Sharma. During this, the Anna movement was also at its peak and there was an anti-government wave in the country. Lalu Yadav’s party was in the UPA alliance and he was also a Lok Sabha MP. Rajat Sharma asks, ‘This year has been of brahmacharis. Be it Anna Hazare, Ramdev, Rahul Gandhi. These people dominated. Ramdev even said that this movement is the power of celibacy.
Lalu Yadav pauses for a while before answering this question and then everyone is shocked by the answer he gives. Lalu says, ‘We have heard this many times before. We have 11 kids or 12 kids. All those who have children are by luck. We all know brahmacharis. Tell me then how are you celibate?’ Lalu Yadav had then targeted Anna Hazare and said, ‘If it is cold in Delhi, Anna Hazare will run such a movement if he has fled to Maharashtra’.
The CBI team that arrived to arrest Lalu had sought the help of the army: Former Joint Director of CBI had shared an incident related to the fodder scam. He wrote in his book that when his team reached Patna to arrest Lalu, his supporters surrounded Lalu. Vishwas had also sought help from the police for this, but no help was received from there as well because Lalu was the Chief Minister during that time. After this he also reached to the army for help, but he did not get any help from there too. However, later Lalu himself surrendered in the court.
