2 SIM Cards: Trai can impose penalty for using 2 SIM cards in a phone

TRAI Mobile Number Sale: TRAI is concerned about the misuse of mobile numbers. In such a situation, TRAI has made a new plan, under which telecom companies can be charged for mobile numbers, which telecom companies can put on mobile users. Let’s know the new plan..

If you are using 2 SIM cards in your mobile without any need. That means if you keep one SIM in inactive mode, then you may have to pay a charge for such SIM card. This charge can be taken on lump sum or yearly basis. TRAI has made a plan to charge mobile operators for mobile phone or landline numbers. In such a situation, mobile operators can collect this charge from the users.

Charge can be collected from telecom companies

If TRAI is to be believed, then the mobile operator is not shutting down such SIM cards which are not in active mode for a long time, so as not to lose its user base. Whereas according to the rules, if a SIM card is not recharged for a long time, then there is a provision to blacklist it. In such a situation, TRAI has made a plan to impose a fine on the mobile operator, the burden of which can be put on the common users by the telecom companies.

Why is the charge being collected?

If ET’s report is to be believed, then the country is facing the problem of shortage of mobile numbers. It is believed that most of the mobile users use two SIM cards in the smartphone. In this, one remains in active mode, while the use of the other is very limited. Or it remains inactive. Also, some users use more than one mobile SIM card. In such a situation, a plan has been made to charge on the mobile number.

19 percent mobile numbers are useless

If TRAI’s data is to be believed, at present more than 219.14 million mobile numbers are included in the blacklist category, which have not been active for a long time. This is about 19 percent of the total mobile numbers, which is a big problem. Let us tell you that the government has the right to mobile number spacing. The government itself issues mobile number series to mobile operators. TRAI says that mobile numbers are available in a limited quantity. In such a situation, it should be used in the right way.

In which countries is the charge levied for mobile numbers?

In countries like Australia, Singapore, Belgium, Finland, UK, Lithuania, Greece, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Kuwait, Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Nigeria, South Africa and Denmark, telecom companies charge for mobile numbers.

Premium numbers can be auctioned

Apart from this, premium mobile numbers can be put up for auction for up to Rs 50 thousand. This will be just like the mobile number plates are auctioned in the automotive industry. Telecom companies can give the customer the option to select from 100 to 300 numbers.
