Reserve Bank of India: A new update on Rs 2000 notes was released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The central bank said that about 97.26 percent of the Rs 2,000 notes have returned to the banking system. But currently notes worth Rs 9,760 crore are still in the market.
On May 19, RBI had announced withdrawal of Rs 2000 bank note from the system. At the time when the Central Bank made this announcement, the total value of Rs 2000 notes in circulation in the market was Rs 3.56 lakh crore.
100 percent notes were not returned-
Even after more than six months, 100 percent of the notes worth Rs 2000 have not been returned. As of November 30, 2023, notes worth Rs 9,760 crore remain in the market. According to RBI, Rs 2,000 bank notes will remain legal tender. People can deposit Rs 2,000 notes by visiting 19 different RBI offices in the country. Apart from this, you can send these notes to the regional office of the Reserve Bank by post to deposit them in your bank account.
Still facility to exchange or deposit notes-
You can exchange or deposit notes by visiting RBI regional offices of different cities as per your convenience. Any person can go to RBI and deposit a maximum of Rs 20,000 in Rs 2000 bank notes at a time. Let us see the addresses of 19 regional offices of RBI, where you can exchange or deposit Rs 2000 notes.
