2000 Note Update: On 19 May 2023, RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 denomination bank notes from circulation. RBI said that 97.76 percent of the notes of denomination of Rs 2000 have returned to the banking system.
New Delhi. Last year, the Reserve Bank of India took out the Rs 2,000 note from circulation on May 2023. Recently RBI said that 97.76 percent of the notes of denomination of Rs 2000 have returned to the banking system. Now only Rs 7,961 crore notes are with the public.
Let us tell you that on May 19, 2023, RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 denomination bank notes from circulation. On May 19, 2023, there were Rs 3.56 lakh crore worth Rs 2000 notes in the market. Now only Rs 7,961 crore worth notes are left in the market.
Regarding Rs 2000 note, RBI said that by May 19, 2023, 97.76 percent of the Rs 2000 bank notes in circulation have returned. Rs 2000 bank notes will remain legal tender currency.
How to get the notes changed?
If you still have Rs 2000 notes, you can easily deposit and/or exchange Rs 2000 notes at 19 RBI offices across the country. If you want, you can exchange notes through post also. Deposit and exchange services of notes in bank branches were stopped on October 7, 2023.
From October 8, 2023, people can visit 19 RBI offices to exchange the notes. Apart from this, people also have the option of depositing the notes in their account.
The 19 RBI offices offering bank note deposits/exchange are in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram. . ,
