RBI informed that till October 31, 97% of the notes have returned to the system. But notes worth Rs 10,000 crore are still present in the market.
2000 rupee note is out of the system. But, there are still a large number of notes in the market. According to the latest information from RBI, till Tuesday i.e. 31st October, 97 percent of the notes have returned to the system. But, notes worth Rs 10000 crore are still present in the market. However, the Reserve Bank has also just said that the Rs 2000 note is a legal tender and will remain so. It has just been taken back into the system.
Rs 2,000 notes went out of circulation on May 19
RBI had announced withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from circulation on May 19 this year. RBI had given time till September 30, 2023 to the citizens to deposit Rs 2000 notes in the bank or exchange them with notes of other denominations.
