Maharashtra Budget 2024-25: The state budget for 2024-25 was presented ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections to be held in October. The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature began on Thursday. Maharashtra Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced several gifts while presenting the state budget. Today, Ajit Pawar made announcements in the budget like giving three free LPG cylinders to eligible families of the state and financial assistance of Rs 1500 to women every month. On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also presented the economic review of 2023-24 in the Legislature.
Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana
Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced the implementation of ‘Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana’. In this financial assistance scheme for women, a monthly allowance of Rs 1500 was announced to be given to eligible women in the age group of 21 years to 60 years. ‘Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana’ will be implemented from July. An annual budgetary allocation of Rs 46,000 crore will be made for this scheme.
Petrol and diesel also cheaper in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai
In the Maharashtra budget, Ajit Pawar has made a big announcement to make petrol and diesel cheaper in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. After this announcement, petrol and diesel will be cheaper in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said, “The tax on diesel for Mumbai is being reduced from 24 percent to 21 percent. This will reduce the price of diesel by Rs 2 per liter. The tax on petrol in the Mumbai region has been reduced from 26 percent to 25 percent. This will effectively reduce the price of petrol by 65 paise per liter.”
Free cylinder under Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana
Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana’, three LPG cylinders will be given free to an eligible family of five people every year. Under this, 52.4 lakh families of the state will get three LPG cylinders free every year.
Government increased compensation for deaths due to animal attacks
The state government has increased financial assistance for deaths due to animal attacks. The families of those who died due to stray animal attacks will get Rs 25 lakh, whereas earlier financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh was given.
Financial help increased to farmers and milk producers
The government will give a bonus of Rs 5000 per hectare to all the farmers in Maharashtra for cotton and soybean crops. Apart from this, the Maharashtra government will give a bonus of Rs 5 per liter to milk producing farmers even after July 1, 2024.
Government will give financial help for Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme
In the Maharashtra budget, 10,000 women from 17 cities of the state will get financial help to buy e-rickshaws. A proposal to allocate Rs 80 crore for this scheme was presented in the budget.
Shubh Mangal Mass Marriage Registration Scheme
In the Maharashtra budget, Finance Minister Ajit Power has proposed to increase the amount of Rs 10,000 given to women under the Shubh Mangal Mass Marriage Registration Scheme to Rs 25,000.
Summary of Maharashtra’s Economic Review
The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly began on Thursday and the Economic Survey was presented before the state budget. Maharashtra’s economic growth rate has been 7.6 percent in the last financial year 2023-24. This is equal to the country’s GDP growth rate of 7.6 percent. A year ago in 2022-23, it was 6.8 percent. According to the Economic Review, the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at current prices for 2023-24 was Rs 40,44,251 crore. On the basis of actual value, it has been Rs 24,10,898 crore.
Maharashtra has the highest average share in the country’s GDP
At the all-India level, Maharashtra’s average share in GDP at current prices has been the highest at 13.9 percent. Per capita state income for the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 2,52,389, while in the previous financial year it was Rs 2,19,573.
Growth rate in different sectors
In Maharashtra, the growth rate of agriculture and agriculture-related sectors along with industry was 1.9 percent and 7.6 percent respectively. The growth rate in the service sector was recorded at 8.8 percent. The Economic Review said, “The fiscal deficit was 2.8 percent of GSDP while the revenue deficit was 0.5 percent.”
