FIR can be registered in any police station. It will be necessary to inform in case of arrest. It is necessary to collect forensic evidence and do videography.
3 New Laws: As soon as the clock strikes 12 on June 30, the laws made by the British under the IPC will end in the country. As soon as July 1 begins, three new criminal laws made in their place will come into force. These include the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) 2023, the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS) 2023 and the Indian Evidence Act (BSA) 2023. Since the new criminal laws have laid special emphasis on the use of technology in investigation, trial and court proceedings. Therefore, NCRB has made 23 functional modifications in the existing Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) application. So that in the new system also there is no problem in doing all other CCTNS related work including registering FIR from the computer easily.
Preparations had already started on a large scale
The Union Home Ministry said that under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Ministry had also started working on a large scale to make policemen, jail, prosecutors and forensic personnel including judicial officers aware immediately after the notification of the three new criminal laws on December 25, 2023. Apart from this, NCRB has also created 36 support teams and call centers to help the states and union territories in implementing the new laws. So that if any state is facing any kind of technical or other problem related to the implementation of these new laws, then it can be resolved immediately.
Three new apps named e-Samman were also created
The National Informatics Center (NIC) has also created three new apps named e-Saksha, Nyaysruti and e-Summon to facilitate videography and photography of crime spots, court hearings and electronic service of court summons under the new laws. BPR&D organized 250 webinars and seminars to explain all aspects of these laws. In which 40 thousand 317 officers and employees were trained. Under the guidance of the Bureau, states and union territories trained 5,84,174 employees. To make teachers and students aware of these, UGC made 1200 universities and 40 thousand colleges and All India Technical Council made about nine thousand institutions aware about these.
