7th Pay Commission: Dearness allowance of central government employees has recently been increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. The government had approved a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance from January 1, 2024. Now these 6 allowances of government employees will also be increased soon. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued instructions to release the allowances being received by the Central Government employees as per the Office Memorandum dated 2 April 2024. Following its 2016 valuation and recommendations, the 7th Pay Commission examined the benefits offered to central government employees, including railway employees, civilian defense employees and defense personnel. These are allowances applicable to central government employees.

Central government has recently increased dearness allowance
Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees has recently been increased from 4% to 50%. Dearness Relief (DR) for Central Government pensioners has also been increased from 4% to 50%. These revised rates will be applicable from January 1, 2024.
House Rent Allowance (HRA)
When DA reaches 50%, the government has revised the HRA rates to 30%, 20% and 10% of basic salary in cities X, Y and Z respectively. House rent allowance given to employees depends on the category of that city. In which they live. HRA for X, Y and Z type cities was 27%, 18% and 9% respectively, which has been increased to 30%, 20% and 10%.

Central government employees get House Rent Allowance (HRA), which depends on where they live.
