Recently, after Dearness Allowance (DA), there was an increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA). Due to the increase in Dearness allowance, there has been an increase in City allowance, Travel allowance as well. Now a demand has been placed to abolish the limit of one more allowance. It is expected that the employees of the Defense Department can get the benefit of this soon.
Will get benefit in Night Duty Allowance
Union of Central Employees (Defence Department employees) has demanded removal of artificial ceiling of Night Duty Allowance. The demand for ceiling of allowance has been placed many times in the past as well. But, no final decision has been taken on this yet. According to the union, the Defense Ministry has to take a decision from this side. However, this demand has reached the top officials.
43600 rupees is the limit so far
The artificial ceiling of Night Duty Allowance has been fixed at Rs 43600. It’s taken a long time. Now there is a demand to remove it. Mukesh Singh, general secretary of All India Federation of Defense Workers and member of JCM-II Level Council (MOD), has sent a letter to the Secretary of Defense Department regarding night duty allowance. It has been demanded in the letter that the artificial ceiling of Rs 43600 on Night Duty Allowance should be removed. The ceiling was imposed during Kovid after the order of 13 July 2020 last year. This issue has also been placed in the meeting of the National Council (JCM).
Discussion has also taken place with the cabinet secretary
The demand for Night Duty Allowance was also placed in the discussion with the Cabinet Secretary held on 26-27 June 2021. However, no decision has been taken on that yet. At present, several rounds of meetings on demand have been held. At the same time, the Department of Personnel (DoPT) says that the order passed last year is not applicable to the industrial employee of the Defense Department. In such a situation, now the government should take a decision and fulfill the demand of the employees of the Defense Department.
All allowances have been increased
Almost all allowances have increased after the ban on dearness allowance was lifted in July. Mukesh Singh says that night duty allowance is also very important for industrial workers. In such a situation, they are getting harmed due to the sealing. After Dearness Allowance, City Allowance, Travel Allowance and HRA have increased. But, still the central employees are waiting for DA Arrear. According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of JCM (Staff Side), there is a continuous demand for arrears. Hopefully some middle ground will be found with the government.
