What is DA calculation?
In the year 2017, the government had implemented the 7th Pay Commission. DA was reduced to zero in 2016. Actually, whenever DA reaches 50 percent, it is reduced to zero.
The amount received in 50 percent DA is merged into the basic salary of the employee.
Understand it like this, the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000 and he will get Rs 9,000 in DA. Now as soon as DA becomes 50 percent of the basic salary, it is merged into the basic salary. This means that the basic salary of the employee will be revised to Rs 27,000.
When will dearness allowance be merged?
The government calculates DA twice a year. DA is increased for the first time in January and for the second time in July. Approval was received in March for January 2024. Now DA will be revised in July 2024.
Let us tell you that DA is merged with the basic salary only when the DA is 50 percent. This time the government has increased DA by 4 percent to 50 percent.
Now dearness allowance will be calculated from the AICPI index from January to June 2024. After this, 50 percent dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary of the employee.
