It is expected that the Central Government will announce the DA increase before Holi. Let us tell you that this year Holi will be celebrated on 25 March 2024. According to the pattern till now, the announcement is made by the month of March. This is why expectations have increased. The important thing is that after the announcement in the month of March, when the salaries of the central employees will come on 31st March, then the arrears of 2 months will also be included in it.
How much increase is expected
Looking at the inflation figures, it is being estimated that dearness allowance may increase by 4 percent. In such a situation, dearness allowance of central employees can be 50 percent. Let us tell you that at present the allowance of central employees is 46 percent. The allowance was increased by some eight per cent for both halves of last year. There was an increase of 4-4 percent in both the halves respectively.
2 months arrears
Along with the salary for the month of March, central employees will also get DA arrears for the months of January and February. Actually, if the increase in DA will be for the half year from January to June, then the outstanding allowance for the months of January and February will be given. About 50 lakh central employees will benefit from the DA increase. Apart from this, pensioners are also going to get the benefit of dearness relief i.e. increase in DR. This means that the month of March can bring good news for more than one crore employees.
Inflation figures
All-India CPI-IW declined by 0.3 points to 138.8. The increase in dearness allowance is estimated on the basis of this number only. Year-on-year inflation for December 2023 stood at 4.91 percent compared to 4.98 percent last month and 5.50 percent in the same month a year ago.
