New Delhi: Before Diwali (Diwali 2021), the central government has given a big gift to the government employees. In the cabinet meeting last week, the Modi government decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) of central employees by 3 percent. Central employees will get House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Education Allowance along with this additional 3% dearness allowance in the salary of October 2021. In other words, the central employees will get the salary hike for October 2021.
Arrears will also be available with 31 percent DA
These hikes in DA and DA have been implemented from July 1. Meaning the central worker will get 31 percent DA money from July 1. That is, the money for arrears of 3 months will also be given to them. In the month of July, August, September, money has been received at the rate of 28 per cent. At the same time, now money will come in October salary with 31 percent DA and 3 months arrears will also be paid. This decision of the central government will directly benefit 47.14 lakh employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners.
How much will the DA increase?
If your basic salary is Rs 18,000, you are currently getting Rs 5,030 DA at the rate of 28 per cent. Now it has increased to 3 per cent. Now at the rate of 31 per cent, you will get DA of Rs 5,580. In other words, if the basic salary of the employees is Rs 18000, there will be an increase of Rs 540 in DA. The higher your basic salary, the higher will be the DA.
According to the 7th Pay Commission Matrix, the salary range of Level-1 of central employees ranges from a minimum of Rs 18,000 to a maximum of Rs 56,900. If dearness allowance is increased by 3 per cent in June, then the total DA will be 31 per cent.
Calculation on 31% DA
- Basic salary of the employee Rs 18,000
- New Dearness Allowance (31%) Rs.5580/month
- Dearness Allowance so far (28%) Rs.5040/month
- How much dearness allowance increased 5580-5040 = Rs 540 / month
- Increase in annual salary 540X12 = Rs 6480
Meaning the employees will get Rs 540 added in the next salary as compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, this difference will be Rs 6480. Salary will increase more in the higher salary bracket, let us calculate the maximum basic salary of Level-1 at Rs 56900.
Calculation on 31% DA
- Basic salary of the employee Rs 56900
- New Dearness Allowance (31%) Rs 17639/month
- So far dearness allowance (28%) Rs 15932 / month
- How much dearness allowance increased 17639-15932 = Rs 1707 / month
- Increase in annual salary 1707X12 = Rs 20484
That means Rs 1707 more will come in the salary of the employees this month. On an annualized basis, the difference would be Rs 20,484.
Now the employees are waiting for their 18 months arrears which were not paid to the employees during the COVID period from January 2020 to June 2021. In fact, due to the arrival of Corona, the Central Government had banned the dearness allowance of the employees. But it was increased every 6 months.
There was an increase of 4 percent in January 2020, 3 percent in June 2020 and 4 percent in January 2021. Now the employees are demanding this arrears. Although the government is denying about giving it, but the organization has written a letter to PM Modi about this. On which some announcement is likely to be made.
