7th Pay Commission DA Hike: There is good news for central employees. Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees will be increased once again from July 1, 2024. Earlier, the central government had increased the DA in March this year, which was considered effective from January 1, 2024. Now dearness allowance is to increase again from July. The government increased DA by 4 percent in January, after which DA has increased to 50 percent. Now it is expected that after the Modi government gets its third term, the dearness allowance of the employees can increase by 5 percent and it can increase to 55 percent.
Will DA increase to 55 percent from July 1?
It is expected that the government can increase the inflation rate by 4 to 5 percent in view of inflation. If the government increases DA by 5 percent, then the DA of the employees will increase to 55 percent on July 1. However, if we look at the past trends so far, the government has announced the dearness allowance of July 1 only till September-October. This is expected to happen this time too, but whenever the announcement is made, it will be considered effective from July 1, 2024. Central government employees are currently getting 50 percent dearness allowance (DA).
DA was increased on 1 January
The government had approved a 4% increase in dearness allowance from January 1, 2024. Now these 6 allowances of government employees will also be increased soon. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued instructions to release the allowances being given to the central government employees as per the Office Memorandum dated 2 April 2024, due to which more allowances also increased.
House Rent Allowance (HRA) increased
When DA reached 50%, the government has revised the rates of HRA to 30%, 20% and 10% of the basic salary in X, Y and Z cities respectively. The house rent allowance given to the employees depends on the category of the city in which they live. HRA for X, Y and Z type of cities was 27%, 18% and 9% respectively, which has been increased to 30%, 20% and 10%.
