Dearness allowance is to be announced in September itself
The announcement of dearness allowance for central employees is to be made at the end of September. But, it will be implemented only from July 2024. The payment for the intervening months will be made as arrears. Under the 7th Pay Commission, central employees and pensioners will be paid 53 percent dearness allowance. If sources are to be believed, it can be announced in the cabinet meeting to be held on September 25. It has been included in the agenda. Only the formal announcement is left.
Arrears of three months will be available
If sources are to be believed, even though the dearness allowance will be announced by the end of September. But, it can be paid with the salary of October. In such a situation, employees and pensioners will also get 3 months’ arrears. This arrears will be of the difference between the previous dearness allowance and the new dearness allowance. Till now 50 percent DA and DR are being received. Now it will increase to 53 percent. In such a situation, 3 percent arrears will be paid. This will include July, August and September.
Dearness allowance will not be zero
The dearness allowance of the employees will not be zero. The calculation of dearness allowance will continue. There is no fixed rule regarding this. Last time this was done when the base year was changed. Now there is no need to change the base year at present and there is no such recommendation either. Therefore, further calculation for central employees will be beyond 50 percent.
