7th Pay Commission: Good news for employees, will get the benefit of Seventh Pay Commission, salary will increase, instructions issued

He said that despite clear recommendations of the 5th Pay Commission in this regard, the matter was kept pending for a long period.

7th Pay Commission: The salary of Delhi’s cooks is going to increase. Following the instructions of the High Court, Delhi LG VK Saxena has directed the Social Welfare Department to give the benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission to the cooks. Not only this, the LG filed a litigation against the department. Instructions have been given to assess the cost and identify the officers and employees who delayed the matter and take action against them within 15 days.

Cooks will now get the benefit of Seventh Pay Commission

Actually, the cooks working in Delhi Government were struggling since 2014 regarding the Seventh Pay Commission. In this case, in February 2016, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had given the verdict in favor of the cooks, but the Delhi Government appealed the CAT’s decision in the Delhi High Court. Gave up the challenge. After this, the High Court also rejected the government’s demand and gave its verdict in favor of the cooks in January 2023, despite this the Delhi government did not follow the order.

After this, the cooks filed a contempt petition in the High Court, after which the Delhi Government sent this file to the Lieutenant Governor for approval in January 2024, which has now been approved. Let us tell you that the Delhi High Court has given the department effective from May 2014. , was directed to grant the revised pay scale E Level 2 (Rs. 19900-63200) of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix. It was also said that the order will be effective in relation to the employees working on the post of cook. The Lieutenant Governor expressed displeasure that despite the clear recommendations of the 5th Pay Commission in this regard, the matter was kept pending for a long period.

Instructions to take action against careless people

Delhi LG asked the Social Welfare Department of Delhi Government to follow the instructions of the High Court. In which it has been asked to implement the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission for cooks. Now LG has directed to settle this matter by completing all the legal processes within 15 days. The LG has directed the department to assess the cost of litigation and identify the officers/employees delaying the case and take action against them within 15 days.
