7th Pay Commission: Central employees are waiting for the Dearness Allowance (DA) for the first half of the year i.e. from January to June. It is expected that the government may announce the increase in the allowance for the first half after March 15. Meanwhile, different state governments have started increasing the allowances of their employees. In this context, the Himachal Pradesh government has increased the allowances of its employees.
How much has DA increased?
Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh has increased DA by four percent. This increase will be applicable from July 2022. With this, the allowance of state employees has increased to 38 percent. At the same time, state employees will be given increased dearness allowance in arrears from July 2022. This means that the employees will get a total of 21 months’ allowance along with the March salary.
Gujarat government had also taken the decision
Earlier, the Gujarat government had given a gift on Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees and pensioners. Last Thursday, Gujarat government announced a four percent increase in DA. With this increase, DA of Gujarat government employees will increase from 42 percent to 46 percent. This increased DA is effective from July 1, 2023.
This means that state employees will get the arrears of the last eight months. The decision to increase DA will benefit about 4.45 lakh state government employees and 4.63 lakh pensioners. Along with this, the government has also decided to increase its contribution to the National Pension System (NPS) from 10 percent to 14 percent while state employees will have to pay 10 percent.
