The Union Cabinet had last week approved a 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DR) for government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.

9,488 crore will be imposed on the exchequer due to DA hike

This decision of the central government will directly benefit about 47.14 lakh central employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. Let us inform that in July this year itself, the rate of dearness allowance was increased from 17 percent to 28 percent. Now it has been increased once again by three percent. With this, the rate of DA for government employees has gone up to 31 percent. Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur had recently said that due to dearness allowance and dearness relief, there will be a total impact of Rs 9,488.70 crore on the exchequer.

How much will the DA increase?

If your basic salary is Rs 18,000, then you are currently getting Rs 5,030 DA at the rate of 28 per cent. Now it has increased by 3 percent. Now you will get DA of Rs 5,580 at the rate of 31 per cent. In other words, if the basic salary of the employees is Rs 18000, there will be an increase of Rs 540 in DA. The higher your basic salary, the higher will be the DA.
