Due to the Corona era, many central employees have not been able to take advantage of Leave Travel Concession (LTC). In such a situation, the government has decided to increase the deadline for depositing the bill.
Even though the situation is not clear about the dearness allowance to the central employees from July 1, the employees have been given a big relief in Leave Travel Concession (LTC). The government has extended the last date for depositing bills under this special cash package scheme to 31 May. In such a situation, those who have not yet submitted the travel bill will get extra time to submit it.
Under the LTC scheme, central employees get tax exemption on the cost of commuting for two trips between four calendar years (January to December). Other facilities are also available as well. This scheme was launched by the central government last year. Its purpose was to inspire people for travel. Travel industry suffered a lot during the Corona period. Due to this, the government had given the employees to spend some amount through vouchers under LTC Cash Voucher Scheme. After this amount was spent, 31 March 2021 was the last date to submit the bill. But now this deadline for bill submission has been pushed forward.
Deadline increased due to Corona
The last date for submitting the travel bill under LTC was 30 April. But due to Corona, many employees have not been able to submit a copy of the bill on time. Because of which they cannot take advantage of the scheme. Keeping this in mind, the government has decided to extend its deadline. Now government employees can submit the bill by 31 May.
You can avail the scheme once in 4 years
Employees can avail LTC Cash Voucher Scheme only once in 4 years. That is, if a person has once billed travel expenses under this package, then he cannot apply again under this scheme for the next four years. Most employees will get travel allowance through this process. Under this scheme, central employees can travel anywhere in the country with the whole family.
