7th Pay Commission: There is good news for central employees. If all goes well, he may get two gifts at once in July. The first gift in July could be an increase in dearness allowance and the second increase in fitment factor. In view of the demand of central employees under the 7th Pay Commission, the central government may announce an increase in the fitment factor in July. Significantly, the central employees have been demanding to increase the fitment factor for a long time. Actually, there is an increase in the basic salary under the fitment factor.
7th Pay Commission: Fitment Factor
At present, fitment factor at the rate of 2.57 per cent is being given to central employees under the 7th Pay Commission. There is a demand to increase it to 3.68 times. Increasing the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68 will increase the minimum basic pay from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. If the central government accepts this demand, then there will be a tremendous increase in the minimum wages of the central employees.
Basic pay will be calculated at 3.68 per cent instead of 2.57 per cent.
The last time the government increased the fitment factor was in the year 2016. The 7th Pay Commission was also implemented in the same year. At that time the minimum wage of the employees had come down from Rs.6000 to Rs.18,000. Whereas, the upper ceiling was increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh. Now the government can increase the salary of central employees again this year.
Basic Pay Rs.18000 to Rs.26000
The fitment factor determines the basic pay for all central government employees. This time, if there is a possible increase in the fitment factor, then the minimum basic pay will increase from Rs 18000 to Rs 26000.
