Now the allowance of the employees has increased to 53%. Along with this, many questions are arising in the minds of central employees regarding the increase in other allowances.
7th pay commission: Recently, the government has increased the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees by 3%. After this increase, the allowance of the employees has now become 53%. Along with this, many questions are arising in the minds of central employees regarding the increase in other allowances. Actually, the last time the increase was made, the allowance became 50%. After this, the government also increased many other allowances. Due to this, there was a big increase in the salary of central government employees. Now that the dearness allowance is 53%, the question is whether the government will also increase other allowances like last time. Let us understand about it in detail.
What is the reason for the increase
Actually, the 7th Pay Commission has recommended that when the dearness allowance exceeds 50%, then some other allowances including House Rent Allowance i.e. HRA should also be increased. Under this, different departments of the government had increased other allowances. This includes allowances like HRA, Special Allowance, Education Allowance. Now the question is whether other allowances including HRA will increase this time too? On this, experts say that we will see an increase in other allowances this time. In simple words, without the official notification or policy of the government, there will be no amendment in allowances like HRA in India, even if DA touches the figure of 53%.
Will DA be merged in basic salary?
In ET’s news, experts have been quoted to answer the question whether DA will be merged in basic salary or not. According to Debjani Aich, partner of IndusLaw, the increased DA will not be included in the basic salary of the central government employee. Let us tell you that according to the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, the government increases the allowance twice a year. This increase is for the period from January to June and July to December.
