7th Pay Commission: Jharkhand government has given gifts to its government employees before Holi. Jharkhand government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) allowance for state employees to 50 percent. Earlier this allowance was 46 percent. The government has increased dearness allowance by 4 percent. This increase will be considered effective from January 1, 2024. This decision of the Jharkhand government was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Champai Soren.
1.90 lakh employees of Jharkhand will benefit
Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said that Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief (DR) have been increased from four percent to 50 percent. About 1.90 lakh employees and pensioners across the state will benefit. If any pensioner has died, dearness relief will be given to his family members. Increase in DA was included in the 30 proposals approved during the cabinet meeting. With this increase, employees will also get the outstanding DA of the last three months. Apart from this, the government has approved the recruitment of Panchayat Secretariat volunteers on contract basis with a monthly payment of Rs 2,500 for the help desk at the village level.

Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the estimates of House Rent Allowance for government employees and allocation of funds for the construction of Jharkhand Bhawan in New Delhi. The state government also plans to include 11 pilgrimage sites within Jharkhand and 30 sites across the country under a scheme to facilitate pilgrimage for persons belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
Central government increased DA by 4 percent
The Union Cabinet has recently approved a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance for central government employees, which will come into effect from January 1, 2024. Now central employees will get 50 percent dearness allowance. This move will benefit more than one crore central government employees and professionals. Besides, increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA) for employees has also been announced. Commenting on the recent cabinet decisions, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the DA hike alone will put a burden of Rs 12,868 crore on the exchequer. Apart from this, the government has increased the dearness relief by 4 percent. Both DA and DR are usually increased twice a year in January and July.
