8th Pay Commission: Big news for government employees! 8th Pay Commission proposal received, will be announced in the budget

8th Pay Commission: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the Union Budget 2024-25 on July 23. Therefore, demands are coming from various sections before the budget. In this budget, the Central Government Employees Union has also sent a proposal to the Cabinet Secretary which includes many demands. Out of all the demands of the employees, the formation of the 8th Pay Commission is one of the most prominent demands. In a letter written to the Cabinet Secretary on July 6, the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers has made several demands before the Budget 2024. Apart from this, a proposal has also been given to the government for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The Modi government, which came to power for the third time, can constitute the Eighth Pay Commission in the budget.

The 8th Pay Commission may be announced in the budget

The budget may bring good news for government employees. The central government has received a proposal to form the Eighth Pay Commission before the full budget of 2024. The proposal for the 8th Pay Commission has been sent to the Modi government. So that, the Pay Commission can review the basic pay, allowances, pension and other benefits for Central Government employees and pensioners.

Government receives proposal of 8th Pay Commission

Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary of the Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees, National Council of Employees, has written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary, urging the government to come up with the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. A Central Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years. It checks the existing salary structure, allowances and benefits of central government employees, suggests necessary changes based on points like inflation.

7th Pay Commission came in 2014

The 7th Pay Commission was brought by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 28 February 2014. Its recommendations came into effect from 1 January 2016. This will be the first time during the tenure of the Modi government that a new pay commission will be formed. As per the usual ten-year interval, the 8th Central Pay Commission is proposed to start from 1 January 2026. However, the government has not yet announced its formal formation.
