Railway Employees pay structure revision: National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi demanding amendment in the pay structure of central government employees. The Federation said in this letter that the recommendation of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) was implemented from January 1, 2016, in which the minimum wage was fixed at Rs 18,000 per month.

“Almost 8 years have passed since the date of implementation of the revised pay structure. However, the Government of India has not yet considered the pay structure or the establishment of the 8th Central Pay Commission,” the letter by NFIR General Secretary M Raghavaiah said. .”

There is no need to wait for 10 years

In its letter, the Federation also reminded PM Modi of the recommendations of the 7th CPC. It was also said in these recommendations that the matrix can be reviewed from time to time, for this it is not necessary to wait for a long period of 10 years. The Commission said that the matrix can be reviewed and amended on the basis of Ackroyd formula. Which takes into account the changes in the prices of items that make up the common man’s basket. It is reviewed from time to time by the Labor Bureau present in Shimla.

Ferration said that compared to 2016, there has been a huge increase in the prices of many essential commodities including food items. To compensate for this, the government needs to increase the minimum wage and provide a uniformly revised pay structure for all categories of central government employees.

What should be the minimum salary?

As per Dr. Aykroyd formula and based on the prices of various commodities, the minimum wage for Central Government employees should not be less than Rs 32500 per month on July 1, 2023, whereas at present the employee is being given a much lower minimum wage. . At present the minimum salary is Rs 18000 per month, even after adding dearness allowance of 46% of the salary, it is very low.

It said, “NFIR requests the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to intervene to take action for revising the pay structure of Central Government employees and revising the minimum wages based on the specific recommendation of the 7th Central Pay Commission .”
