When Finance Secretary T.V. When Somanathan was asked whether the government proposes to ensure timely constitution of the 8th Central Pay Commission for central government employees so that it can be implemented on January 1, 2026, the Finance Secretary said in Parliament. Formation of 7th Pay Commission before 2013 general elections.

Earlier, before the 2013 general elections, the Congress led UPA government had constituted the 7th Pay Commission. Lok Sabha elections are going to be held next year also in 2024. In such a situation, many speculations were being made regarding the implementation of commission on the eighth day.

Let us tell you that Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years to change the salary structure of Central Government Employees in the country.

The first pay commission in the country was constituted in January 1946. Since 1947, 7 pay commissions have been constituted. At the same time, the last i.e. the seventh pay commission was made on February 28, 2014.

DA of central government employees increased to 46%

Under the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary of employees is Rs 18,000. According to the 7th Central Pay Commission, Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners have been increased from 42% to 46%. This revised rate is applicable from July 1, 2023.
