How much will be the increase in salary?

After this announcement of the Modi government, central employees are expecting a big increase in their salary. The fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission is likely to be between 2.6 to 2.85. This fitment factor can bring an increase of 25-30% in the salary. Sharma said that the minimum salary can be more than Rs 40,000, which will also include allowances and performance pay. Pensioners will also get benefits in the same proportion.

How was the salary decided in the 7th Pay Commission?

The minimum salary in the 7th Pay Commission was fixed at Rs 18,000 per month, which was 2.57 times more than the minimum salary of Rs 7,000 of the 6th Pay Commission. This increase reflects an actual increase of 14.2%. While deciding the salary, the commission will take into account expenses like rice, wheat, pulses, vegetables, milk, sugar, oil, fuel, electricity, water bills, entertainment, festivals and marriage.
