Expenditure Secretary Manoj Goel told news portal CNBC-TV18 on Monday, February 10 that the 8th Pay Commission can start its work from the month of April of the financial year 2025-26. According to the report, the Terms of Reference (TOR) will require a green signal from the Union Cabinet.
Allocation will be made in the next budget
Govil said that the government expects that the 8th Pay Commission will not have any financial impact on the financial year 2026. The Department of Personnel and Training and the Ministry of Defense will be asked for their views on this. The news portal quoted Govil as saying that the next Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 will also include allocation for the financial impact of the commission. The scheme is expected to have an impact on the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) of the country.
