New Car Policy: New policy on car will be applicable from April 1, know what will be the impact on customers

The government has issued a notification regarding the vehicle recall policy. This policy will also be implemented from 1 April. If the vehicle manufacturer or importer violates these rules, then they may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 100 lakh.

The Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways has issued a notification on 12 March regarding vehicle recall policy for vehicle manufacturers. This vehicle recall policy will be implemented from 1 April. According to the policy, the number of vehicles and their type (including two-wheeler, three-wheeler and four-wheeler) will be recalled based on. A fine of 10 lakhs, 20 lakhs, 50 lakhs or 100 lakhs can also be imposed for violating the rules set by the government.

If any automobile manufacturer makes bad vehicles, then they have to pay fine to the government. Only last year, the government issued a draft notification regarding the vehicle recall policy. A portal will also be run for such vehicles, where customers can lodge complaints about their problems. Currently, the Voluntary Vehicle Recall Policy is followed in India.

How will the vehicle testing process be done?

According to the rules, the vehicle manufacturer or importer will have to test all types of vehicles. If the testing standard is not met, the government can issue a recall notice to them. The government will also inform customers about this. Potential buyers will be given complete information about the risk associated with their vehicles and their malfunction.

If the automobile manufacturer agrees to the problem then it will inform the customer about it, the problem will have to be resolved and the recall process will be started. The vehicle manufacturer will take appropriate steps to eliminate this problem, it will take all necessary steps for this. If the vehicle manufacturer does not agree with the government’s decision, then they will have a chance to appeal in the High Court.

Two more notifications to be released

The notification issued by the ministry states, ‘After issuing the final notice to the customers, the vehicle manufacturer will also monitor this problem through its database or authorized dealer network. Manufacturers and importers will also have the option that they can close the recall after one year from the date of the recall release. However, after 3 years from the recall date it will be automatically considered as inactive. ”Two more notifications will be issued by the Ministry on the vehicle recall policy.

Do other countries have such a policy?

Experts say that there is still scope for this policy to make it consumer friendly. There is scope for improvement in India’s policy as compared to many developed countries like Japan, Europe and America. There are strict rules regarding vehicle recall in these countries. If you look at the global rules, if there is any defect in more than 5 percent of vehicles of any kind, then all the vehicles in that lot have to be recalled.

Unclear information about tire recall

It is not yet clear in India’s policy whether tire recall cases will also be a part of automobile recall or not. There are many cases of tire burst where the life of the driver or other people present on the road is at risk. Let us know that the company that sells the vehicle chooses the tire. If the vehicle manufacturer does not know about the manufacturing defect in this, then the liability of such cases is with the owner or the insurance company.

Experts also say that all the international vehicle manufacturers present in India follow strict rules in America, Europe and Japan. Not only this, when vehicles manufactured in India are exported to the global market, strict standards are followed for them. This is based on the rules of the country being exported.
