GURUGRAM: The city recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius — three notches above the normal — on Monday. However, the meteorological department has predicted light showers along with thunderstorm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.5 degrees Celsius.“Under the influence of western disturbance, the city is likely to witness thunderstorm accompanied with light rain from Tuesday evening till Wednesday afternoon. There will be gusty winds with a speed ranging between 40-50 kmph. As a result, the temperature will fall by 3-4 degrees Celsius in the next two-three days. However, the temperature will start rising again with a possibility of heat wave condition on April 27 and 28,” said an IMD official.
According to the IMD’s weekly forecast, the city’s daytime temperature is likely to hover around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 21 degrees Celsius.The city’s overall air quality index (AQI) on Monday was recorded at 213 as against 128 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Delhi is likely to reel under heatwave conditions by April-end as as the day temperature is expected to remain above 40 degrees Celsius. The Met department said the city would see a steep rise in temperatures from April 25.
