Non-Muslim refugees will get citizenship of India without CAA, Ministry of Home Affairs issued notification

The MHA has issued this notification for immediate implementation of the order under the Citizenship Act 1955 and the rules made under the law in 2009.




After the uproar over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a gadget notification has been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The home ministry has issued a gadget on May 28, according to which applications for Indian citizenship have been sought from non-Muslim refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

In this gadget applications for citizenship have been sought from non-Muslims like Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists living in 13 districts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Punjab.

India will get citizenship without CAA

According to sources, the rule is not ready under the new CAA law. Through the CAA law, the Narendra Modi government had made a provision to give citizenship of India to the people of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. But its rules are not ready yet.

Therefore, this notification has been issued under the already existing rules for citizenship. The MHA has issued this notification for immediate implementation of the order under the Citizenship Act 1955 and the rules made under the law in 2009.

There was widespread opposition to CAA

Let me tell you that when the Narendra Modi government brought the CAA, there was widespread opposition in the country. Muslim organizations, NGOs and opposition parties of India had opposed this law, calling it discriminatory against Muslims.

There were nationwide protests against this law. In protest against this law, there was a long protest in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.

Who are the characters of citizenship

According to the notification issued by MHA, people who are residing in Morbi, Rajkot, Patan and Vadodara are eligible to apply for Indian citizenship. Apart from this, refugees who are living in Durg and Balodabazar in Chhattisgarh. People living in Jalore, Udaipur, Pali, Barmer and Sirohi in Rajasthan are also eligible. Also, such people living in Faridabad in Haryana and Jalandhar in Punjab are eligible to apply.

Citizenship Act 1955 is Aadhaar

The MHA notification states that the central government has taken this step under section (5) of the law, using the powers found under section 16 of the Citizenship Act 1955. Under this, applications have been sought to register people of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian minority communities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan living in the above mentioned states and districts as Indian citizens.

Collector or Home Secretary will investigate

Information has been given in the gadget notification that there will be an online application for registration as a citizen of India, in which the District Collector or only the Home Secretary of Haryana and Punjab will get the application checked according to the cases, if needed.
