Taxpayers will not be able to file income tax returns this week as the website of the Income Tax Department will remain closed from June 1 to June 6. Last month, the officials of the Income Tax Department had informed that the income tax department’s current website will be closed for 6 days till June 1-6 for filing ITR and other tax related tasks. A new e-filing web portal will be launched on June 7. According to an order passed by the systems wing of the department, from June 7, the new portal www.incometaxgov.in will become operational instead of www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. The current website of the Income Tax Department will remain closed till June 1-6 regarding the preparation and migration of this launch.
Website will also be closed for IT officers
From June 1-6, the current website of the Income Tax Department will not only be closed for taxpayers, but it will also not be available for officers of the Income Tax Department. All officers will be available for any hearing and complaints of taxpayers regarding the new system from June 10 or onwards. According to the order, all work schedules between the taxpayer and the Assessing Officer of the IT department have been preponed or postponed.
ITR is done on e-Filing Portal
Taxpayers file Income Tax Return (ITR) of their individual or business category through the e-filing portal. Apart from this, refund can be applied through this portal and other tax related work is done. Taxmen issue notices through this portal, they get a response from the taxpayer and they respond to queries. Apart from this, communication is done regarding assessments, appeals, executions and penalties.
