While giving information about the situation of corona virus in India, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health, Luv Aggarwal said that 89,498 new cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours. He said that since the highest level of new cases coming daily, there has been a decline of about 79 percent in cases. Aggarwal said that last week, there was a 33 percent drop in the total cases. He said that in the last one month, there is a decrease in new cases in 322 districts.

65 percent reduction in active cases

He told that between June 1-7, there has been a decline of 6.3 percent in positivity. Agarwal further said that in the last one week there has been a decline of 33 percent in cases and active cases have come down by 65 percent. Aggarwal said that there are 15 states that have high positivity rate less than 5 percent.

At the same time, VK Paul, member of NITI Aayog, said about the prices of vaccines that the price of vaccines for private sectors (hospitals) will be decided by the vaccine manufacturers. He said that the states will collect the demand of the private sector, which means they will see how much network of facilities it has, and how much feed it needs.

Center has ordered 44 crore vaccine doses

VK Paul said that the central government has ordered 25 crore Coveshield and 19 crore Covaxin doses. Along with this, the Center has also ordered 300 million doses of biological e-vaccine, which are likely to be received by September. Paul said that these 44 crore doses (25 crore Coveshield and 190 crore Covaxin) will be available from now till December 2021. In addition, 30% advance has been released to Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech for the purchase of both the vaccines.

Paul further said that we should wait for the company (Biological E) to announce the price of their vaccine (Corbevax). This will depend on our interaction with the company under the new policy. The financial assistance given will meet part of the cost. He said that the provisional scientific date of the biological E vaccine, Corbevax, is very promising.
