Indian Railway: If we look at the figures before Kovid, a total of 1768 mail or express trains were running, which are now operating in the number of 983. In this way, about half the trains are still serving passengers as compared to normal days. The number of trains is being increased with the decrease in the cases of Corona.
With the decrease in the cases of corona infection, there is a huge increase in the demand for train service. The migrants who had returned home due to Corona, now want to return abroad. With the relaxation of lockdown and curfew, factories have started, due to which the demand for employment is increasing. To take people to the cities, the railways is running new trains every day or the closed trains are being restored.
Workers and people earning abroad have been sitting or getting tickets for many days, but the waiting is not ending. To eliminate waiting and facilitate safe travel for people, the train is running several pairs of trains simultaneously. Trains are being launched every month on different routes of the country. Although all the trains are in the special category at present, but its services are also like normal trains. Indian Railways has told that in view of the huge demand of passengers, 660 trains have been started in the month of June only. These trains are running in special service.
How many trains are running now
According to a railway data, till June 18, 983 mail or express trains are being operated. If we look at the figures before Kovid, a total of 1768 mail or express trains were running, which are now operating in the number of 983. In this way, about half the trains are still serving passengers as compared to normal days. At present, about 56 percent trains are being operated in the situation before Corona. As the demand of passengers is increasing, so the number of trains is being increased. As of 1 June 2021, 800 mail or express trains were in operation. Indian Railways has approved the zonal railways to run 660 additional trains between June 1 and June 18.
In which zone how many trains
26 in Central Railway, 18 in Eastern Central Railway, 68 in Eastern Railway, 16 in North Central Railway, 38 in North Eastern Railway zone, 28 in Northeast Frontier Railway zone, 158 in Northern Railway, 34 in North Western Railway, South Central Railway Approval has been given to run 84 trains in Zone, 16 in South Eastern Central Railway Zone, 60 in South Eastern Railway Zone, 70 in Central Zone, 28 in Western Central Zone, 16 in Western Railway Zone. This total number is 660. In the month of June, Indian Railways has decided to run 660 additional trains. This will reduce the waiting list very soon and passengers will get confirmed tickets.
Gradually increasing demand of passengers
The Railways has directed the Zonal Railways to operate trains keeping in view the local needs. In this the situation of Corona has to be taken care of. If the corona infection is fast, then the frequency of trains will be reduced or will be operated with extra precaution. Before running the trains, the demand for tickets is also being seen in that zone. If the demand of passengers is high, then more trains are being allowed to run from the railway side. On the other hand, the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) is preparing to restore 72 percent of the trains by mid-July. Consultations are going on with different state governments and the situation of Corona is being looked into. If everything is normal then by mid-July 72 percent of the trains will be restored on the NFR route.
NFR focus on freight
Despite the restrictions of Kovid-19, NFR is currently running 49 pairs of trains. Of these, special mail or express trains are more. Keeping in view the convenience of the common people, 5 pairs of passenger trains are being run on this route for local passengers. Very soon 21 pairs of special or express trains will start, the notification of which has been issued. In the second wave of Corona, NFR has made freight transportation easier and served the business class. This year till the month of May, NFR has transported a record 1.480 MT of essential commodities. In the same period last year, only 0.802 MT of goods were transported. Due to the closure of the transport facility during the Corona period, people have made full use of the railways for freight.
