Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has implemented a new rule for government employees.
Under this, the employees will be given salary only after the complete payment of the electricity bill.
Now in Assam, if a government employee does not pay the electricity bill, then he will not get the salary. Himanta Biswa Sarma government has implemented this new policy in the state. This rule will be applicable to all the government employees of the state and to get the salary, they will have to pay their electricity bills on time.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has sent a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Commissioner and Secretaries of all government departments in this regard. In the letter, everyone has been urged to instruct all the drawing and disbursing officers under them to ensure this.
It is to be seen that while starting the process of payment of salary/allowances on or before 30th June, the employee should submit such a certificate which states that ‘no arrears of APDCL are pending.’
Let us inform that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had given instructions to this effect on June 6. After that the Managing Director of APDCL wrote the above letter.
The letter reads that “Only the payment receipt of the existing bill generated by the APDCL system can be used as proof of payment.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has already said that “every month the power sector of the state is losing Rs 300 crore due to power theft and non-payment of bills. The government is now going to take steps to recover arrears of revenue and check illegal power consumption.” The Chief Minister has also asked APDCL to prepare the details of defaulter consumers.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Some fraudulent consumers have adopted dubious methods to save electricity bill, which is causing huge loss of revenue to APDCL. To meet this loss and to buy power, APDCL has been forced to ask the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission to increase the electricity rates. The general public will have to bear the burden of these increased rates, this situation is the result of loss of revenue by defaulting consumers.Live
