The last date for registration under the Self-Reliant India Employment Scheme has been extended from 30 June 2021 to 31 March 2022. This is likely to increase employment opportunities.
Last year, the Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana was launched during the Covid recovery phase to promote employment in the formal sector and encourage the creation of new employment opportunities. Under the expansion of this, this year also Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an economic relief package on June 28. In this, the deadline of Self-reliant India Employment Scheme has been extended till March next year. In such a situation, the last date of registration has been extended from 30 June 2021 to 31 March 2022. In this, those with a salary less than Rs 15,000 will get the benefit.
The third phase has been launched under the Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY). Under this, 12 new schemes have been started, through which the economy of the country will improve. It covers all sectors from job to business. For this, an investment of Rs 27.1 lakh crore has been made by the government and the Reserve Bank. This amount is 13% of the country’s GDP.
Employment opportunities will increase
The proposed extended period of registration under the scheme is expected to generate 71.8 lakh jobs in the formal sector. With this, the estimated expenditure of the scheme has increased to Rs 22,098 crore. Establishments registered with EPFO under ABRY and their new workers, whose monthly income is less than Rs 15,000, will be benefited.
There will be an increase in the contribution of employees
Under ABRY, the central government will provide employees and employers’ share (24 per cent of income) or employees’ share (12 per cent of income) for two years. This will depend on the total number of employees of the EPFO registered establishment. Let us inform, 21.42 lakh beneficiaries have been benefited through 79,557 establishments till 18 June 2021 under ABRY.
Target to increase the number of beneficiaries
Under this scheme, so far Rs 902 crore has been spent for about 21.42 lakh beneficiaries. The government aims to bring the number of beneficiaries to 50 lakhs.
