Most of us are aware that WhatsApp lets you send voice messages to your contacts. But it is also important to know that you can send messages on the app without even typing. Yes! The dictation feature on WhatsApp allows you to dictate a message using a mic icon on the keyboard, which is there on both iOS and Android devices. You can find the dictation feature in the keyboard if you are using the Google Keyboard or the regular iOS keyboard on your iPhone.
To start with voice typing on WhatsApp, tap on the contact whom you have to send the message to. Now, pull out the keyboard and tap and hold the mic icon on top right (for Android users) or bottom right (for iOS users). Dictate the message and finally tap on the send button to send this dictated message.
How do I send a voice message on WhatsApp?
- Open WhatsApp on your phone
- Tap on individual or group chat
- Select the message box
- Tap and hold the mic icon and record your voice message
- Leave the mic icon, if you have recorded the message and tap on ‘Send’
How do you type a voice message?
- On your Android mobile or tab, install Google keyboard
- Open any app where you can voice type your message like Gmail or WhatsApp
- Tap on the message box where you enter the text
- On the Gboard, touch and hold the microphone icon
- When you see the option ‘Speak now’, say what you want to write
How do you dictate punctuation in voice typing?
To add punctuations in your message while voice typing, simply say the punctuation mark i.e. ‘comma’, ‘period’,’hyphen’; so that it gets inserted in your message.
