The process of filing income tax return is being simplified. Now you can also file ITR at your nearest post office.
India Post is now offering the option to pay Income Tax Return (ITR) at the nearest Post Office Common Service Center (CSC) counters, which may be good news for lakhs of salaried taxpayers across the country. Giving this information on Twitter, India Post said that taxpayers can easily access ITR services at the nearest post office CSC counter.

Post Office CSC counters across India act as a single rich point for Indian citizens to avail multiple financial services like postal, banking and insurance services. Along with this people can also get many other government benefits and information through CSC counters.
The government also provides various other e-services to Indian citizens through these CSC centers located at local post offices to ensure that people can avail benefits under the Digital India programme. The Digital India website states that the purpose of the CSC centers is to make governance more effective.
On the other hand, recently the Income Tax Department has launched its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in. However, the new portal is currently facing glitches.
