New Delhi: The servers of digital payment platform Paytm were shut down on Thursday evening, causing difficulties for customers across the country in making payments or making other transactions. Along with this, many big apps including Zomato, Disney Hotstar (Disney + Hotstar) were also stalled. According to the news of ABP Live, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma acknowledged the issue and said that Akamai is going through an outage.
Sharma posted on Twitter that Akamai appears to be going through an outage. Soon after, Akamai also confirmed the global outage. Akamai is a global content delivery network, cyber security and cloud services company providing technology platform web and internet security services to leading companies including Paytm.
A statement from Akamai said that we are aware of an emerging problem with the Edge DNS service. We are actively investigating the matter. If you have any questions or concerns about this issue, please contact the Akamai Technical Support Center. In the interest of time, we are providing you with the most up-to-date information available, which is subject to change, correction and update.
According to initial reports, other leading tech platforms such as FedEx, Paytm Money, NDTV, Cricinfo, Cricbuzz, Hotstar, SonyLiv, Airbnb and HSBC also faced similar problems. Even food delivery app Zomato faced similar issues. CEO Deepinder Goyal took to Twitter and gave information about the same. While some of the above mentioned websites showed ‘Unreachable’, others showed ‘DNS failure’ when opening.

OTT platform Disney+Hotstar also said that they are also facing a similar error and are trying to fix the glitch. An official post on Twitter said that due to an unforeseen issue, you will not be able to access your favorite content. Our team is working on fixing this as soon as possible. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
