India Post recently announced that citizens can easily apply for a passport at the Common Service Center of their nearest post office. Before filling the application form, it is important to keep some things in mind.
It is mandatory to have a passport to go abroad. This is an important travel document. It is issued by the Ministry of External Affairs to the citizens of the country. The basic purpose of the passport is to allow the cardholder to travel across the border, it also shows the identity card of an Indian city. Keeping in view the convenience of the people, the Ministry of External Affairs has taken a big initiative so that the process of issuing passports is facilitated.
According to India Post, a total of 424 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras have been established across the country. People can avail the facility of application and registration process for passport at the nearest post office. For the facility, the applicant has to go to the Common Service Center of the nearest post office. India Post took to its Twitter handle to make this announcement public, “Now it is easy to register and apply for passport at the CSC counter of your nearest post office. For more details, visit the nearest post office.”

According to Passport India, after submitting the online application under the new system, it is mandatory for all the applicants to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra along with the print receipt of the application and the original documents. But before starting the process of applying for passport, the applicant must keep important documents with him. You will need these documents while applying for a passport.

>> Identity card such as Aadhar card, voter card, or valid photo ID
>> Proof of age, birth certificate, school leaving certificate
>> Driving License, Pan Card, Aadhar Card
>> Address proof like electricity bill, water bill, gas connection, mobile bill

How to Apply for Passport at Nearest Post Office
Visit the official website of Passport Seva passportindia.gov.in. You have to first fill and submit the passport application form online. After submitting the application online, you can go to the nearest post office with the original documents and the application print receipt of the Passport Seva Kendra. Passports will be issued within 7 to 14 working days after successful confirmation by the authorities. But, keep in mind that it is mandatory to visit the Passport Seva Kendra or the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra to submit your passport application.
