Aadhaar has been recognized as the most important and reliable proof of identity and address for Indian residents. It not only contains demographic details but also the biometric data of the cardholder, which makes it very difficult to duplicate.
The Aadhaar issuing authority UIDAI has made a provision to cover all residents of India, irrespective of their age, under this scheme. Many hospitals have started enrolling children for Aadhaar and they also provide Aadhaar acknowledgment slip along with birth certificate. Name and data is correct
It has been said by UIDAI that to ensure the correct data of your child in Aadhaar, please check all the details including spelling in both English and local languages carefully. Apart from this, before signing, double check the details in the acknowledgment slip. Rules for children from 5 years
No biometrics are taken of children below 5 years of age. Then only the photograph is taken for its base. But it is mandatory to provide the Aadhaar of one of the parents. If both the parents do not have Aadhaar, then they have to first apply for their Aadhaar. Will update again after 15 years
On attaining the age of 5 years, the biometrics of the child will be taken and a new photograph will also be taken. When the child turns 15 years old, the same process has to be repeated again. Aadhar card for children of 5 years to 15 years is same as that of adults. UIDAI has not differentiated Aadhaar for children and adults. However, for children in the age group of 5 to 15 years, Aadhaar has some salient features. Features of Aadhaar for children aged 5-15 years
The enrollment process is the same as for adults. The only difference is in the documents required to be submitted. Then the biometric data (all 10 fingerprints, iris scan and photograph) will have to be updated when he turns 15. In all cases the Birth Certificate / Discharge Certificate from the hospital has to be submitted.
