Bhopal. After the center, the Madhya Pradesh government has also given the gift of Diwali to its employees. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced an 8 percent increase in dearness allowance for the government employees, doubling the joy of Diwali. Dearness allowance in the state will now increase from 12 percent to 20 percent. The Chief Minister said that 50 percent of the salary increase will be given to the employees in the salary for the month of November and the remaining 50 percent in the salary of March 2022.
Center approves 3 percent hike in dearness allowance
Earlier, the Union Cabinet approved 3 percent increase in Dearness Allowance and Relief to Central Employees and Pensioners. This will benefit 47.14 lakh employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. Giving this information, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters that this increase would be from July 1, 2021. After this increase, dearness allowance and relief has increased to 31 percent.
He said that on July 1 this year, the government had approved restoration of three arrears installments of employees and decided to increase dearness allowance/relief payable to employees and pensioners from 17 per cent to 28 per cent of basic pay/pension. Thakur said that in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was approved to increase the dearness allowance/relief payable to the employees and pensioners by 3 percent. He said that 47.14 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners would benefit from this decision. The Information and Broadcasting Minister said that it would cost Rs 9,488 crore per year.
