WhatsApp is bringing a new update to its ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature. After the new update, you will be able to delete the sent messages at any time. Currently, the time limit for this feature is 68 minutes. The company rolled out this feature in 2017. After which the time limit of this feature was also updated several times. At present, two options are available to delete a sent message, ‘Delete for me’ and ‘Delete for everyone’.
WABetaInfo, the platform that tracks the feature to WhatsApp, has shared a screen shot related to this feature. This feature is visible with the Android interface in it. A dialog box is also visible here in which the user will get the option to select whether he wants to delete the message only for himself or for everyone.
The message shown in the screen shot is three months old. The date of August 23 is showing on the chat. That is, the ‘delete for everyone’ feature by WhatsApp is much more than the current deadline.
Current time limit of this feature
Right now on WhatsApp we can delete up to 4096 seconds (or 68 minutes and 16 seconds) of sending a message. After launching this feature in 2017, its time limit has been increased several times. Initially, only 8 minutes were available to delete the message for everyone. However, both Telegram and Instagram users can delete old messages from the app without any time limit.
How to use ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature in WhatsApp
- Open the contact, group where you sent the message
- Keep in mind that the message should not be more than 68 minutes and 16 seconds
- Tab and hold the message up, this will select it
- Touch the delete icon at the top
- Now select ‘Delete for me’ or ‘Delete for everyone’.
