The NCB had filed draft charges against 35 accused in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court last month, details of which were made available on Tuesday.
Criminal conspiracy charge
According to the draft charges, all the accused in connivance with each other or in a group entered into a criminal conspiracy between March 2020 and December 2020 to distribute, sell and purchase narcotics in high society and Bollywood. The NCB said that the accused had financed drug trafficking within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. He used ganja, charas, cocaine and other intoxicants and psychotropic substances.
According to the draft charges, therefore sections 27 and 27A (financing illegal trafficking and harboring criminals) 28 (punishment for attempt to commit offence), 29 (whoever abets, or is involved in criminal conspiracy) against him The allegations have been made under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, including. It said that accused number 10 Rhea Chakraborty obtained ganja from accused Samuel Miranda, Shovik, Dipesh Sawant and others and handed it over to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Riya herself paid
The actress paid for the consignment between March 2020 and September 2020 at the behest of Shovik and the late actor. According to the draft allegations, Riya’s brother Shovik was in regular contact with drug traffickers and had obtained it from co-accused after ordering ganja and charas.

According to the NCB, these narcotics were given to Rajput. Filing of draft charges sets the ground for framing of charges, after which the trial begins. However, before framing the charges, the court will first have to decide the acquittal plea of the accused.
Special Judge VG Raghuvanshi, who hears cases related to the NDPS Act, has fixed July 27 for hearing the matter. Chakraborty was arrested in the case in September 2020 and was granted bail by the Bombay High Court a month later. The NCB launched an investigation into alleged drug use in the film and television industry following Rajput’s death on June 14, 2020.
