Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has told in the Lok Sabha that taking care of the common man, the Railways gives 53 percent subsidy to every person on train tickets. But apart from this, railways gives up to 75 percent discount on train tickets to people in many categories. People get many types of discounts in different categories of train tickets. Who gets how much discount
Railway gives discount in train tickets to orthopedically handicapped, mentally retarded people and people who are completely unable to see and cannot travel without the help of another person.
Such people get up to 75 percent discount on second class, sleeper class, first class, 3AC, AC chair car. 50% discount is available in 1AC and 2AC. Up to 25 percent discount is available in 3AC and AC chair car in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. 50% concession is available in first and second class of MST, QST. An escort accompanying such people also gets a similar exemption.
Apart from this, Railways also gives discount on train tickets to those people who are completely unable to hear and speak. To these people, Railways gives 50% discount in sleeper class and first class, 50% discount in first and second class of MST, QST. An escort accompanying such people also gets a similar exemption.
