In the media reports in the last days, there was news of running sleeper Vande Bharat train from the Railways side. Now it has been approved by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. The Railway Minister said that by February-March next year, Vande Bharat trains will have 3 formats Vande Chair Car, Vande Metro and Vande Sleeper.
Vande Bharat’s maximum speed is 160 kmph
He told that in the coming time Vande Bharat train will replace Shatabdi, Rajdhani and local trains. These indigenous ‘semi-high speed’ trains are being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. The Railway Minister said during an interview that the railway tracks will be upgraded in the next three to four years for the maximum speed of 160 km per hour for Vande Bharat trains.
Vande Bharat trains will have three formats
After the launch of Vande Bharat from Dehradun to Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal, Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘Vande Bharat train has three formats. Vande Metro for travel less than 100 km, Vande Chair Car for 100-550 km and Vande Sleeper for travel more than 550 km. All the three formats will be ready by February-March in 2024. Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express.
Every state will get the gift of Vande Bharat train
With the running of this train, the time taken in Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express will be reduced to 4.5 hours from 6 hours 10 minutes. Vaishnav said that every state will get the gift of Vande Bharat train by mid-June next year. He said that the construction of these trains is being expedited. Every eighth or ninth day a new train is leaving the factory. Work is going to start in two more factories.
Vande Bharat has been designed with a maximum speed of 160 kmph. But according to the capacity of the track, they will run at a speed of up to 130 kilometers per hour. He said, ‘The old tracks were designed for a speed between 70 to 80 km per hour. About 25,000-35,000 km of tracks are being upgraded for speeds of 110 kmph, 130 kmph and 160 kmph.
The Railway Minister said that by 2027-28, Vande Bharat trains will be able to run at a speed of 160 km per hour. Railways is working on fencing along the tracks to prevent animals from coming under the grip of trains. Vaishnav said that 4G-5G towers are being installed by the Railways. He said that they have been installed at many places and this work is going on continuously.
