Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, who got married in 1973, lived happily for 50 years. But during this time, he had to face many difficult situations. One such incident happened in 1982.
On August 2, 1982, Amitabh Bachchan was seriously injured while doing an action sequence on the sets of Coolie. While shooting an action scene with actor Puneet Issar at Bangalore University, he was injured due to a misjudged jump. He also suffered bleeding. Simi Garewal asked Amitabh Bachchan about this in his show. At that time, Amitabh Bachchan had commented on this terrible incident.
“My intestines were injured in an accident during shooting. I had surgery. So I was in a coma. After that we went to Mumbai after five days. Another surgery was done because the stitches broke. Then I was unconscious for 12-14 hours. My BP was zero. No pulses could be found. So the doctor declared me medically dead,” he said.
Jaya Bachchan also shared her experience with Amitabh Bachchan . She said, “I went home to see my children. As soon as I returned to the hospital, my Deera told me about his condition. Then the doctor came and said that only your prayers can help me now. Then I had Hanuman Chalisa in my hand. But, I couldn’t read it.”
“Doctors were giving them injections to save them. I could see with my own eyes that the heart was pumping and trying to revive him. But, when the doctor stopped trying, I saw Amitabh’s thumb moving. They were moving and they got a new life,” he added.
