New Delhi: Indian Railways is often forced to cancel trains due to accidents, bad weather or repair of railway lines. As if the passengers cancel the train ticket, Railways deducts the cancellation charge and refunds the remaining amount. Similarly, if the train is canceled by the Railways, then the Railways will refund the full price of the ticket. There is no cancellation charge. However, many people do not know how to get this refund. If your train gets canceled due to any reason, don’t worry. You don’t have to go anywhere for a refund. If the train is delayed by more than three hours and you cannot board the train for any reason, you need to fill the Ticket Deposit Receipt or TDR. But remember in this case, you have to submit this TDR before leaving the train.
How to apply for refund to Indian Railways?
- You have to fill TDR form to get ticket refund. For this first you need to log in to IRCTC website or mobile app.
- Now you have to select ‘My Transaction’ option.
- Now you have to click on ‘File TDR’ option.
- In the next step you have to enter PNR number, train number and captcha. Now tick the Cancellation Rules box.
- Now click on submit option. Now the OTP will be sent to your registered phone number or given in the ticket booking form.
- After entering OTP click on submit option. PNR details will appear on your screen.
- After verifying the PNR information you have to click on Cancel Ticket option. Click here to see how much money is being refunded. Confirmation message on your mobile number will actually refund the ticket price.
