Airport New Rules: Good news for Airport Passenger! Now DIAL has started Self Baggage Drop facility, know details

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has started Self Baggage Drop (SBD) facility for the convenience of passengers at Delhi Airport.

Self Baggage Drop facility: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has started Self Baggage Drop (SBD) facility at Delhi Airport for the convenience of passengers. Due to this, passengers will not have to stand in line for long. This facility has been started at Terminal-3. SBD will ease the process of depositing luggage and the average waiting time for passengers will come down to 15 to 20 minutes.

People will get this facility

After getting the benefit of this facility, the luggage of three passengers per minute can be deposited at the airport. DIAL told that at present domestic passengers will be able to use this facility and after getting necessary approval it will be started for international passengers as well. The company said that a total of 14 SBD machines including 12 automatic and two hybrid have been installed.

Now Indigo passenger will get facility

According to DIAL, at present, Indigo passengers will be able to use this facility. Five airlines including Air India, Vistara, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and British Airways are likely to provide SBD facility to their passengers in future. According to the statement, passengers can use the SBD facility through a two-step process. After obtaining the boarding pass and baggage tag from the Self Check-in Kiosk, passengers will be required to tag the checked baggage by themselves.

These things have to be taken care of

Passengers will have to scan their boarding passes at the SBD facility and declare that their baggage does not contain prohibited/hazardous material and will be placed on the fixed belt. Once the process is complete, the baggage will automatically be delivered to the destination and then to the aircraft. If the weight of the checked baggage exceeds the limit set by the airline, it will not be accepted by the machine. In such a situation, the personnel of the airline will be present nearby to help the passenger.

Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, Chief Executive Officer, DIAL said, “DIAL is continuously striving to improve the passenger experience at Delhi airport through digitization and automation initiatives. The facility of self-luggage collection is also aimed at making the passengers self-reliant and at the same time reducing the time taken for the collection of luggage.
