The proposal approved by the CM will be applicable to those women workers who have worked on contract for 80 days in the last 2 months, they will get the benefit of 80 days maternity leave. However, this leave will not be applicable for delivery after two living children.
Women Employees Maternity Leave: There is good news for the contract women employees of Jharkhand. The Hemant Soren government of the state has taken a big decision in the interest of the contractual women employees of the state, under which now women employees will also get the benefit of maternity leave on the lines of government employees. This proposal has been approved by CM Hemant Soren.
CM approved the proposal
In fact, earlier there was no provision for giving benefits of maternity leave to women workers appointed on contract and for a long time the contract workers were demanding to give maternity leave. After this, as soon as this matter came to the notice of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, he immediately asked to prepare a proposal regarding giving maternity leave to women workers appointed on contract. About five months back, the Finance Department had given its approval on this and forwarded the file to the CM, which has now been approved by the CM.
These employees will get benefits
The proposal approved by the CM will be applicable to those women workers who have worked on contract for 80 days in the last 2 months, they will get the benefit of 180 days maternity leave. However, this leave will not be applicable for delivery after two living children. The contractual amount for maternity leave will be equal to the last contractual amount received before proceeding on leave. Maternity benefit is given to women employees to protect their rights during pregnancy and after delivery, these benefits are governed by the Maternity Benefit Act, 964 Is.
