Antyodaya Anna Yojana Parivar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday launched the Pradhan Mantri Food Supplementation Scheme (PM-FSS) to ensure food security of the poor and deprived sections of the Union Territory. Under this scheme, 10 kg additional ration has been announced at concessional rates for all priority families (Antyodaya Anna Yojana Parivar). Addressing a press conference, Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha has announced that more than 57 lakh people of Jammu and Kashmir will be covered under the Pradhan Mantri Food Supplement Scheme (PMFSS).

He told that there are 14.32 lakh ration card holders in Jammu and Kashmir, and 57,24,000 people will get benefits under PMFSS. Giving information, he said, ‘There is a concession of Rs 9 (per kg), if there are 4 members in a family, then they will be provided 16 kg free ration and along with this, 10 kg additional ration will be provided at a subsidized rate. This will cost the government Rs 1.80 crore annually.
He said that the Jammu and Kashmir government is fully committed to the development and welfare of the people. It is the aim of the government that the public should get all the facilities, but the public should also understand their responsibility. There is no other alternative to smart electricity meters, it would seem. During the last 4 years, the arrears of Jammu and Kashmir electricity bill has reached 31 thousand crores. Speaking to reporters at the Raj Bhavan here today, the Lieutenant Governor said that under the current circumstances under the National Food Security Act, 35 kg food grains per family are provided to 2.90 lakh families in Jammu and Kashmir under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana.
LG Manoj Sinha said that it has been re-introduced with revised rates to remove the financial burden of poor families and ensure access to food and nutritional security. Apart from this, regarding the road collapse in Panthal during Amarnath Yatra, he said that efforts are on to prepare an alternative road for Amarnath pilgrims within three days.
